Summa Summa Summertime!

Cohen and I have thoroughly enjoyed our first month of summer vacation.  We've  become frequent visitors of the neighborhood pool, Monon Center, and library,  secured a pretty great daily schedule, cleaned and washed laundry, ate lots of snacks and perfected our crawling form.  Currently, we are working on our ability to pull ourselves up and stand on our own - and have managed this with only a few minor bumps and bruises.  Summer always seems to go by way too fast, but this summer it seems to fly by even faster.  I am so lucky to have a job that allows me to spend this wonderful time with my family, especially since during the school year I am too busy to blink.  But even though I don't get to sleep past 7 (unless it's Kurtis' weekend day to get up with Cohen or my parents are in town) I wouldn't trade the time I get to spend with my stinker, watching him grow into such a little man.  I now can truly appreciate my summer vacation.

I love mom being home!

Baby on the Go!

Cohen has just about mastered crawling.  He goes about 2 or 3 steps and then falls to his stomach to army crawl the rest of the way.  However, the little monkey is quick!  One minute he's playing with his car and then I turn around and he has my flip flop in his mouth, then he's under the table putting Brady's ear in his mouth and then he's pulling himself up on the chair.  Seriously, come 7:30, I'm exhausted.  I have this frightening feeling he is going to finally figure out that crawling is much faster than pulling  himself on the ground, but then start walking within in weeks later.  He has to stand to do just about everything now as well- stand to play outside of his exersaucer, stand to watch Baby Einstein and Yo Gabba, stand to play with mommy - he's got some strong thunder thighs.  But I can't complain because this is such a fun stage.  He loves to play peek-a-boo, play with his bouncy balls and chase his remote control car.  Cohen is all boy and I love it!  Because I know that baby #2 will be a girl and she will be my tutu wearing, shopping partner in crime -- of course. :)

Watch out! Here I come!

Peek a boo!

Taking a break -- this crawling business is hard work!

Eight is Great! Let's Celebrate!

My monkey man is 8 months old today!  He is at such a fun age these days.  Despite the fact that I can't take my eyes off of him for one second without him getting into trouble, he's super fun and interactive.  Lately, his new thing is getting on to all fours and moving his legs, but then he falls right to stomach and "army crawls" to whatever it is he wants. And if he's not doing that, he is rolling to get there.  Cohen loves to push himself up to a sitting position from his stomach and look around.  He also has started to find things and thinks about pulling himself up.  He'll try, but he usually gives up and starts rolling somewhere else.  Our new skill we are working on is baby sign language.  He's probably a little too young, but in all the things I've read, they said you can start trying at 6 months, so why not?  I feel so blessed to have this little man in my life.  He is such a creative combination of both Kurtis and myself, and it is fun to see how he grows each day.  But what is even better is I have the next 2 months to spend with him and watch him learn these new things together!

Mama and Cohen - 3 days old

Little Co-Man - 3 Months Old

Handsome Little Dude - 6 Months Old

Sooo big!  8 Month Old

It is crazy how fast time flies but even crazier how much things change over time.  So far, being a mommy is an amazing job and I love every second of it! (Well...most of those seconds.  But probably not the ones when he wouldn't sleep.)
